The 18th of September 2024 will go down as one of the most important days in the history of Magesi Football Club.
In taking to the field against Sekhukhune United at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, Dikwena tša Meetse became the latest team to feature in South Africa’s top-flight.
The club has come full circle after being formed just over a decade ago in Moletjie, just outside of Polokwane, Limpopo.
Despite the momentous occasion dented by a 1-0 loss to provincial counterparts ‘Babina Noko’ in the opening match, Dikwena remain upbeat as our journey in the topflight continues.
Coach Clinton Larsen made five changes in the second half, which saw the new players get a run. Despite the loss, there were plenty of positives to carry into our next matches.
In front of our loyal supporters, who remained in the stadium to encourage the players after the final whistle and in a show of unity by the team, Coach Larsen shared some positive words as the team gathered on the field.
The supporters applauded the team as they walked off with their heads held high and they’ll go down in history as the players who featured in the club’s first match in the Betway Premiership.
We next host our neighbours Polokwane City on Saturday, 21 September, at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
