ALL EYES ON MAGESI FC IN THE CARLING KNOCKOUT

Carling Knockout reigning champions Magesi FC will be in action against AmaZulu on Sunday, 5 October 2025, in the first round of the 2025 edition.

Dikwena Tša Meetse and Usuthu will clash at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, with the Last 16 match set to kick off at 18H00.

Magesi FC put on a great show last year, making history by becoming the first-ever newly promoted team to win the League Cup in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) era.

The focus now turns to this year’s tournament, and Magesi FC head coach John Maduka has urged the team to take it one game at a time, if history is to repeat itself.

“We are the defending champs; when you are going to the game, everyone knows that these are the ones who are keeping this trophy. So, that makes it very, very difficult,” stated Maduka.

“For us, it’s good that we are the defending champions; we have to prepare very, very well.”

The team would be buoyed by last year’s great performance, but Maduka has insisted that we have to tread carefully and respect our opponents.

“We have to be ready; it’s not going to be easy. If we want to be able to retain the trophy, we have to start from game one, and game one is against AmaZulu, and from there we take it one game at a time.

“So, it’s not going to be an easy road because when you are a champion, everyone prepares well when they are playing against the champion. So, this one we know that it’s going to be a very, very difficult one,” concluded the Magesi FC mentor.

The tickets for the Carling Knockout Round of 16 games are on sale at Open Tickets online and nationwide for R60 and are also available at Shoprite and Checkers, as well as U-Save.
