To borrow from the words of Magesi FC Head Coach, Clinton Larsen, “we have to earn our respect and work hard to earn that respect from our peers.”
Larsen’s comments come on the back of that famous 3-2 victory against Orlando Pirates in the Carling Knockout, and the tactician, always true to his words, has seemingly sent a message to his players to remain humble as we take on Cape Town City on Sunday, 27 October 2024.
The Betway Premiership clash takes centre stage at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town at 15:00, with Dikwena Tša Meetse looking for maximum points.
Larsen, however, has maintained his stance: “Let’s earn our respect.”
In simple terms, it’s a different ball game, especially with it being a league clash and as they say, you are as good as your last game.
The message from the coach has been well received by the players, who have been hard at work this week in preparation for the clash against the ‘Citizens’.
There’s little to separate the two sides on the log standings. While Cape Town City are placed 11th, Magesi FC are in the 12th spot after four matches.
It’s still early days. However, the maximum points in Cape Town will go a long way in aiding Dikwena Tša Meetse’s cause to push for a better spot.
If anything, Magesi FC will fight on all fronts to make it a memorable one, in this first-ever meeting between the two sides.
