Magesi FC captain Elvis Chipezeze has shared his thoughts ahead of the Carling Knockout Final against Mamelodi Sundowns, and foremost in his mind is the Blue Nation.
Dikwena Tša Meetse will meet the Brazilians at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on Saturday, 23 November 2024, to fight for the trophy and R6.6-million cheque.
Chipezeze says the team is excited to feature in the final, but most importantly, to not just make up the numbers and put up a fight in honour of the Chairman, Mr. Solly Makhubela, and the Magesi FC supporters.
“We cannot be over-excited,” Chipezeze emphasized.
“We just want to make sure that we give it our all. This means a lot to our Chairman, to our supporters, and to the families. We know that we are still a club that is growing, and we are trying to make a mark in South Africa,” he said.
“We have already made history for ourselves. So we just smile, go there, try to compete like any other team, and everything will take care of itself because you can’t just say we’re going there to make up the numbers. We are also here to compete, so we’re just going to go out there and try to work harder and put a smile on our supporters’ faces, especially those who are going to travel. That’s a long trip from Limpopo to Bloemfontein.”
Chipezeze would be expected to yet again star for Magesi FC, after winning the Man of the Match award in all the three matches leading to the final against Orlando Pirates, TS Galaxy and Richards Bay.
Kickoff has been set for 18:00.
