Goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze has emerged as the Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament for the 2024/25 Premier Soccer League [PSL] season.
Chipezeze, who captains Dikwena Tša Meetse, got the nod at the Premier Soccer League end-of-season awards on Tuesday, 29 July 2025.
The 35-year-old was undoubtedly fully deserving of the accolade following an impressive tournament, which Magesi FC won to become the first-ever newly promoted side to win the League Cup in the PSL era, since the 1996/97 season.
The Zimbabwean international was Man of the Match in all four matches during the tournament, from the Last 16 when we beat Orlando Pirates 3-2 away and in the final in Bloemfontein, where Magesi FC triumphed 2-1 against Mamelodi Sundowns in November 2024.
“Magesi FC’s Elvis Chipezeze received the Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament accolade for his standout performances,” acknowledged the PSL.
Chipezeze, meanwhile, has shared his thoughts with www.magesi.co.za after his recent achievement, crediting the club for his success.
“Firstly, I would like to say thank you very much for the support and the recognition of being named the best player in the tournament. It’s something that is special for me,” he told the club’s media team.
“A special mention to my teammates, my goalkeeper coach [Fiston Kabwanga, pictured below], and my chairman [President Solly Makhubela] for the opportunity that they’ve given me and the support also that they have shown throughout the journey. It has been special, especially for the football club, because it was our first season and we managed to push and get the silverware,” he stated.

Chipezeze also took the opportunity to send a message to the Blue Nation—our revered supporters base, for their unwavering support.
“I just want to say thank you very much for all the support that you gave us throughout the competition. It mustn’t go unnoticed, and there’s more work [ahead], and we just have to make sure we grind.”
The team has been hard at work behind the scenes, and Chipezeze is confident the players would again represent the club well in the 2025/26 season.
“It’s our second season [in the top flight], and consistency is key. We just have to make sure, you know, we pick up from where we left off last season. The target is also to stay in the [top] division, but that also comes with hard work. We are optimistic,” he concluded.
This is the second time Chipezze has won the League Cup Player of the Tournament award after his achievement in the 2017/18 season.
Magesi FC would like to take this moment to congratulate our captain on his Carling Knockout award and wish him, and the rest of the team, all the best for the new campaign.
