For the third time in a row, Magesi FC captain Elvis Chipezeze has won the Man of the Match award in the Carling Knockout.
Chipezeze was in fine form yet again as Magesi FC beat Richards Bay 1-0 in the semi-finals, played at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday, 9 November 2024.
The 34-year-old was equal to the task each time he was called out and for his efforts in keeping a clean sheet, the Zimbabwean international was named the best player of the match.
The award comes with a R100 000 cheque and with three to his name, Chipezeze has made R300 000 from this season’s tournament.
“We’re here to serve our supporters who travelled all the way from Limpopo to support us. It’s a big moment for them in the first season in the topflight. It’s their dream and we try to make them happy,” said Chipezeze during his post-match interview.
With Dikwena Tša Meetse in the final, Chipezeze would certainly be a contender for Player of the Tournament.
