Magesi Football Club has announced the appointment of Owen Da Gama as the team’s new Head Coach.
The vastly experienced mentor was introduced to the media on Monday, 30 December 2024.
Popularly known as ‘ODG’ in football circles, Da Gama, who was previously in charge of South Africa’s senior national side, Bafana Bafana, is ready to hit the ground running.
“The main focus now is to turn the corner. We’re not even mentioning the word relegation – that doesn’t exist. I think it’s about just turning the corner and getting the results,” stated Da Gama, who finds Magesi FC in a precarious 16th position on the Betway Premiership standings.
Da Gama’s first assignment is the trip away to TS Galaxy on Saturday, 4 January 2025.
The 63-year-old was a prolific striker in his heyday, turning out for local clubs such as Pretoria Callies, Dynamos and Moroka Swallows, as well as Belgian side Beerschot and Derry City in Northern Ireland.
