DIKWENA TŠA MEETSE EXIT THE CARLING KNOCKOUT

Last year’s Carling Knockout champions Magesi FC have exited the current edition of the tournament at the Quarter-finals stage following a narrow 2-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates on Tuesday, 28 October 2025.

The two sides met at the Orlando Stadium and while both had their chances throughout the match, it was the home side that emerged victorious.

Magesi FC captain Elvis Chipezeze was deservedly named Man of the Match, making it six of these awards in as many matches since our first cup appearance last season.

Chipezeze kept the Buccaneers at bay in the first half, making some really impressive saves, including at point-blank to thwart Yanela Mbuthuma’s header.

After the break, Magesi’s defence was finally breached when Pirates scored to make it 1-0, but John Maduka’s boys kept going and a few minutes after going behind, Lehlogonolo Mokone’s attempt shaved the woodwork with Pirates’ goalkeeper well beaten.

And Magesi forward Abbey Seseane was also unlucky when his shot came off the crossbar, but Pirates then got further ahead when they scored a second towards the end.

Magesi, however, kept pushing up and finally got rewarded when L. Mokone headed home to make it 2-1, but it was too little to late.

Magesi XI: Chipezeze [c], Mashigo, J. Mokone, Makgoga, L.Mokone, Zungu, Seseane, Mtshali, Sibanyoni, Mosadi, Chirambadare.

SUBS: Tshabalala, Darpoh, Modise, Vandala, Buthelezi, Makhubu, Mahlasela, Mariba, Mofokeng.
