Heading into the FIFA international break, Magesi FC head coach John Maduka says this is an opportunity to focus on certain elements of our game.
By the end of August 2025, Dikwena Tša Meetse had played five games in the Betway Premiership 2025/26: three draws and two defeats, and Maduka says all is not lost as the technical team gets to work behind-the-scenes to focus on specific areas.
“There’s so much we have to work on with the team, and we are happy that we’ve got enough time to do that,” said Maduka, following our 1-1 draw with AmaZulu at Seshego Stadium on Saturday, 30 August 2025.

Maduka was pleased with the team’s fight back after being one-nil down against Usuthu, by salvaging a point at the death, which is the kind of fighting spirit he would like to see from the team going forward.
Magesi FC will play five matches next month: Mamelodi Sundowns [14 September, away], Orlando Pirates [17 September, away], Siwelele FC [20 September, home], Richards Bay [24 September, away], and Durban City [27 September, away].
This means four matches away, with only one at home.
Maduka, however, has accepted the challenge to ensure the team’s readiness beyond the international break.

“The boys are getting better and better. Remember, we had to change the way we play. They never used to play from the back, middle third to the final third. We’ve been trying to do that, and they are getting better and better,” he explained.
“The usage of the ball has tremendously improved. So, in this break, it would help us to master that but also go master those movements in the final third to be able to finish when we’ve got those chances.
“We strongly believe that it’s going to help us going forward,” added Maduka, who also hinted at possible reinforcements.
