MAGESI, CHIEFS SHARE SPOILS

In one of the most entertaining games so far this season, Magesi FC and Kaizer Chiefs settled for a 2-2 draw at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday evening, 30 October 2024.

WonderBoy Makhubu and Edmore Chirambadare were on the scoresheet for Dikwena Tša Meetse, while Mduduzi Shabalala scored a brace for the visitors.

Playing in our own backyard, Magesi FC was on the front foot from the first whistle and drew first blood just six minutes into the match.

Makhubu was on the end of a cross by John Mokone for a perfect start, and by the interval, we were in front, leading 1-0.

In the 72nd minute, Magesi FC looked on course for a victory and maximum points when Chirambadare netted from a free kick to give us a 2-0 lead, and with the ‘Blue Nation’ in full voice, we could have wrapped it up.

It wasn’t to be, however, as Chiefs rallied back into the clash.

Shabalala fired home in the 77th minute to reduce the deficit and made it 2-all just a minute later, and that’s how it ended, with both sides taking a point in this Betway Premiership tie.

Magesi FC returns to action on Sunday, 3 November 2024, with an away clash against TS Galaxy in the quarterfinals of the Carling Knockout.

The match will be played at the Mbombela Stadium in the Mpumalanga province.
