Magesi FC’s DStv Diski Challenge side dominated for the better part of the match against Cape Town City but still went down 2-1 against the visitors at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The young guns of Dikwena Tša Meetse met the citizens on Saturday, 2 November 2024.
City took a lead after just four minutes, and in the early stages, City appeared to have control of the match.
Magesi DDC was not going to sit back for long, and true to how the boys usually approach games – which is an all out attack, they had their fair share of chances.
In fact, it came as no surprise when Magesi DDC won a penalty, which was duly converted by the marksman, Malwandla Makamu, just before the break.
Magesi DDC could have wrapped up the game in the first stanza, given the number of chances created.
The second half was no different, with Magesi DDC continuing to be the better side, and had it not been for the opposition goalkeeper, the scoreline would have been very different.
However, Magesi DDC was made to pay for the missed chances when City was awarded their own penalty with about 15 minutes to go and they went 2-1 up.
City held on for the maximum points, with Magesi DDC suffering the fourth defeat of the season.
At the time of writing, Magesi DDC still maintained 11th spot on the log and will look to bounce back when we travel to TS Galaxy DDC on Saturday, 9 November 2024.
