MAGESI FC READY FOR CUP BATTLE

The final of the Carling Knockout is within reach for Magesi Football Club, as one of the semi-finalists.

Dikwena Tša Meetse will be away to Richards Bay on Saturday, 9 November 2024, in the last four of the prestigious cup competition.

The clash takes place at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, on the south-west of Durban, at 15H00.

Magesi FC are no strangers to away cup matches, having beaten Orlando Pirates 3-2 in Gauteng and TS Galaxy 1-0 in Mpumalanga.

The journey to KwaZulu-Natal this time would also be worthwhile, according to Magesi FC captain, Elvis Chipezeze.

“Cup games sometimes are unpredictable. We are going there to try to produce good results,” Chipezeze told the media this week.

“We are on the verge of making history.”

Chipezeze is spot on. Magesi FC became the first newly promoted side in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) era to reach the semi-finals of the League Cup since Free State Stars, who managed the feat in the year 2007 and for Magesi FC, reaching the final will break new ground, by becoming the first newly promoted side to reach the final.

With the ‘Blue Nation’ in mind, Chipezeze has called on the players to give their best and make our supporters proud.

“We just want to make this province of Limpopo proud, the people who are here, who believe in us to make sure that we put the smile on their faces because it will be a dream, you know,” he said.

“In the first season and also participating in the Carling Cup for the first time – going all the way to the final would be something else.”
