MAGESI PLAYERS NOMINATED FOR PSL AWARDS

Magesi Football Club features prominently in the list of nominees for the Premier Soccer League [PSL] Awards 2024/25.

The PSL has officially announced the nominees and the awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, 29 July 2025, at 19h00, live on SuperSport PSL Channel and SABC Sport.

And Dikwena TΕ‘a Meetse players have earned their spots.

Goalkeeper and captain Elvis Chipezeze features in two categories.

Firstly, Chipezeze’s nomination for the Betway Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season came as no surprise. After all, the Zimbabwean international kept 10 clean sheets in 26 league matches, which is among the most for the top goalkeepers.

The 35-year-old is nominated for the award alongside Ronwen Williams of Mamelodi Sundowns and Sipho Chaine from Orlando Pirates, who both kept 11 clean sheets.

Magesi’s number one was named the Betway Premiership Player of the Month for March 2025, which may stand him in good stead in the race for the main award.

The PSL also confirmed that, “Magesi FC duo Chipezeze and Edmore Chirambadare, along with Mamelodi Sundowns’ Iqraam Rayners, are nominated for the Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament.”

Magesi FC rewrote the history books by winning the Carling Knockout at the expense of Sundowns back in November 2024, thereby becoming the first-ever newly promoted side to win the League Cup in the PSL era since its inaugural year in 1996.

Chipezeze was in his element during the tournament, winning four Man of the Match awards from the Last 16, Quarter-finals, Semi-finals, and the Final.

On the other hand, Chirambadare’s performance against Orlando Pirates in the Last 16 caught the eye, as Magesi FC ran out 3-2 winners in Orlando, Soweto.

Chirambadare was also one of the players to watch in the final, delivering the knockout blow in the decider against Sundowns. With the score level at 1-1 with a few minutes left on the clock, the 33-year-old stepped up to deliver a fantastic corner, and Delano Abrahams got to the end of it for the winner.

He’s pleased to be recognized for a great tournament that put Magesi FC on the map.

“I am so happy and I am glad that it happened this way, and for us as human beings, we don’t have power over anything, but it’s only God who has the last say,” Chirambadare told www.magesi.co.za.

“Without God, I am nothing in football. I give glory to God for this nomination.  I’m very thankful. I also thank my teammates for the work that we did together.”

The club, in its entirety, led by our President Dr. Solly Makhubela, takes this opportunity to congratulate Chipezeze and Chirambadare on their respective nominations.

We wish them the best of luck for the main event on 29 July 2025.
