Magesi FC’s DSTV Diski Challenge (DDC) has continued its great start to the season by adding a point away from home to our tally.
In what was expected to be a thrilling match, Magesi DDC and Orlando Pirates DDC couldn’t be separated on Saturday as the two sides played to a goalless draw.
The match was played at the Isak Steyl Stadium in the Vaal, south of Johannesburg.
Magesi DDC now has seven points from six matches, after the draw with the Buccaneers. The boys drop down to ninth spot.
Head Coach Timothy Madia has heaped praise on the whole team for picking up a point on the road. “It was a game of two halves. First half, they were all over us, especially the first 35 minutes,” Madia told Magesi FC’s media team.
“Pirates were good in combination play, and we realised it, so we kept the shape at the back—tried to be compact at the back to manage their wingers, especially Pirates’ number 7 (Seth Green). For the second half, we could’ve wrapped it up with a tap-in, but we missed. Other than that, my boys played well,” he said.
If anything, Magesi DDC is a team in the true sense of the word, and when under attack, the boys defend as a unit.
“We didn’t concede, and I’m proud of my boys. They can read the game, and aerially, I have to commend our keeper, Sechaba (Khota), for doing very well, and my back four was good. It was a good game, and we will build on this,” he added.
Magesi DDC will be back in action as we host Chippa United on Saturday, 12 October 2024.
The encounter against the ‘Chilli Boys’ will take place at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium at 10:00.
